Becoming a real estate advisor with no degree and no experience
Never worked in property before? All the better. Career changers often outperform those trained the old way. What counts is the drive and the people skills — plus proper training, which we provide.
Contrary to a common belief, nobody is "born" an estate agent. The role ofreal estate advisor is open to anyone with a taste for people and a willingness to learn, with no prior property degree. The rest, we teach you.
Who succeeds when changing career
You will probably recognise yourself in one of these paths — they are the ones that take off fastest.
- Former sales people: you already know how to listen, persuade and follow up a client. A property is simply another product, with a high ticket.
- Managers looking for meaning: you want autonomy and uncapped income, without a heavy hierarchy.
- Entrepreneurs and self-employed: you already know how to manage your time and your business — here the infrastructure is already built for you.
- Expats settled on the coast: you know the ground and you already have a local network. That is gold.
Your "beginner" assets are real
Changing career is not a handicap, it is capital. You arrive with maturity, acontact book and a motivation that a fresh graduate does not yet have. And you are never alone: the training and your sponsor support you daily, with the tools of the réseau IAD.
Changing career: frequently asked questions
Do I need a degree to become a real estate advisor?
No. The advisor role does not require a property qualification. What counts is your people skills, your seriousness and your motivation. The technical side — legal, valuation, negotiation — is taught during the training.
Do I need experience in real estate?
Not at all, and it is often an advantage. Career changers — former sales people, managers, entrepreneurs, self-employed professionals — frequently do better than those trained the old way, because they arrive without bad habits.
Am I too old to change career?
No. Many people start after 40 or 50 and succeed: maturity, an established network and credibility are major assets in front of clients. There is no age limit for going independent.
How long before I am operational?
You start prospecting and winning listings within the first few weeks. The compulsory pathway is short, and you train alongside it through the 24/7 online academy, at your own pace. You do not wait until you have "finished" to start trading.
Can I change career while keeping my current job?
Yes, and it is common at the start. Independent status lets you begin part-time, then switch to full-time once the first sales come in. Many people secure their transition that way.
